Keeping Schools Safe

Dear Parents,

I want to inform everyone about a situation that happened on one of our buses today.  An elementary student found a bullet on the floor.  This bullet was not live ammunition and there was no gun involved. Instead, this was a shell that an older student brought to school for a science project. The Maine State Police conducted appropriate searches and made sure there was no weapon.  In the interest of making sure that this situation does not cause any further alarm, I want to make sure students, staff, and families have the facts.  Thank you to all of our faculty who acted quickly to ensure the physical and emotional safety of our children.  Safety is a top priority of RSU 2 and their actions speak louder than words.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call me or email me.

Sincerely,

Dr. Cheri Towle

Superintendent of Schools
