Matt Gilbert

Welcome Matt Gilbert as RSU 2's new Chief Academic Officer!


Matt Gilbert is a dedicated educator, serving public schools in Maine for over 25 years. First as a high school special education teacher and for the past 21 years as a building level administrator. Most recently, a HS building administrator in the same school for 20 years.  During his career he has served as the President of the Mountain Valley Conference, JMG Board, UMF Board of Visitors, UMF College of Education Advisory Board, NASSP State Coordinator, MPA Legislative Committee, MPA Mentor, MPA Board Member and MPA President. Mr. Gilbert earned his BS from UMF, Masters from UMaine and completed advanced graduate studies at UNE, UMF and USM. He also participated in the Waddington Institute at the Center for Creative Leadership in North Carolina. Mr. Gilbert has been recognized by the Maine Department of Education for outstanding leadership in the area of school climate, has received commendations from Green Heart Exchange, has been a presenter at state and national conferences, and has been a nominee for Maine Principal of the Year. In his personal life, Matt Gilbert is a dedicated husband and father of three outstanding young adults. He enjoys playing music and is an avid outdoorsman.
