MA Express 12/12/21

Greetings Mustangs!

With just eight school days remaining until the winter/holiday break, it’s important that students are making every effort to do the best they can to attend school and to focus on their academics so that we can wrap-up 2021 on a positive note!  Having said that, if a student is experiencing any symptoms and not feeling well, please stay home so as to avoid the risk of getting others sick.  If in doubt, please click on the following link for guidance:  https://5il.co/zwfy.  Thanks!

If a student is going to be out of school for any reason, please make sure to call the Main Office at (207)933-4416 or email the school secretary (Ms. Hewitt) at dhewitt@kidsrsu.org so that we can code the absence correctly.  Only those students who have been placed in quarantine status for either medical reasons (as approved by the administration) and/or for being identified as “close contacts” are allowed to remote into their classes (when appropriate).  If a student tests positive for Covid, please notify the school ASAP so we can start the contact tracing process (if necessary) immediately.  Just an FYI…if an unvaccinated student has tested positive, they have a 90 day window (from when they tested positive) that they won’t have to quarantine if they are deemed to be a close contact when they return to school from their own quarantine.

Masks & Seating Charts: Students are reminded that masks are required in all school facilities and on all school transportation vehicles (before, during, and after school hours).  The mask must be covering both your mouth AND nose.  Teachers are required to maintain accurate seating charts and students need to sit where they have been assigned to sit in the event that we have to do a close contact tracing.  Students are also expected to sit in an assigned seat during their lunch block.  Your cooperation with these expectations is GREATLY appreciated!

Academic Eligibility:  Just a reminder that academic eligibility checks will take place on 12/13 as scheduled.  Please see Mr. Bell with any questions.

Attention Senior Parents!  I’m looking to put together a group of parents from the Class of 2022 to help plan Project Graduation.  I will be sending out aninvite to meet with any interested Senior parent at 6:30pm on Tuesday (01/04). This initial meeting should be no longer than 45 minutes.

Yearbook Update:  Have you purchased a yearbook yet? Are you looking for a holiday gift idea? Yearbooks are still on sale! The total is $55, but the price goes up on December 23rd. Order today to lock in your price. Purchases can be made by bringing money to Dr. Ross or going to yearbookforever.com and searching for Monmouth Academy. Email eross@kidsrsu.org with any questions

From the Food Service Department:  Please click on the following link from our Food Service Department:  https://thrillshare.com/s/news...

CATC:  CATC will be closed on Wednesday (12/22).  MA students who attend CATC will come to MA at their normal time but will be dismissed for the day at 10:45.  Any CATC student needing a ride home at 10:45 is asked to let Ms. Hewitt know by Thursday (12/16) so that we can make the transportation arrangements.  Thanks!

Future Search:  RSU 2 is in the process of conducting a Future Search, a process in which the district will be updating and defining our district's curriculum and values. This work will allow us to identify complementary instructional models, assessments and reporting/tracking tools.  Surveys have been created for current students, staff, parents/community members, and recent graduates.  Students and staff will be given the opportunity to complete their surveys during advisory on Tuesday (12/14). Community members and recent grads are asked to go to our web webpage where you can find a link to your surveys.  If at all possible, we’d like to have the surveys completed by December 31st.  In advance, we thank you for your time and participation.

Guidance Update:  Congratulations to the following Seniors on their recent college acceptances:

Averi Beaudoin:  UMA, USM

Kiley Kitlon:  CMCC

Lilly Bell:  USM, Keene State College

Natalie Aube:  Saint Joseph's College, Regis College, Merrimack College

Athletics: Please take note that as of this communication, attendance at basketball games will be limited.  Each player will be given 4 tickets per game.  We are not allowing fans from other schools to be in attendance at this time.  We are requiring masks to be worn by all athletes, coaches, officials, and anyone attending the games.  There is to be no food or drink consumed in the gym. We are in the process of having a streaming service through NFHS installed.  We will get word out once that service is up & running. If you have any questions, please contact our Athletic Director (Mr. Bell) at sbell@kidsrsu.org.  Thanks!

Stuff the Bus! Monmouth Memorial School has challenged  Monmouth Academy to see who can gather the most donated goods to Stuff the Bus! Please donate non-perishable food items to your advisory groups. This is taking place this month. As always, your support and generosity is greatly appreciated!
