Dear RSU 2 Staff and Families,

Due to the rise in community transmission, the Maine CDC and Maine DOE revised the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) on January 12, 2022 and are allowing a temporary suspension of contact tracing for schools that have a universal masking policy due to the rise of the Omicron variant. This temporary suspension allows nurses and other personnel to focus on mitigating strategies to deal with COVID and attending to sick students.

It is more important than ever to stay home if you are showing COVID 19 symptoms. Please always consider yourself and your children close contacts, monitor for symptoms, and get tested if symptoms develop. If your student tests positive for Covid-19 at any time, please notify your school nurse. The school nurses are here to help you. Please reach out for guidance if needed.

Sincerely,

Matthew P. Gilbert

RSU 2 Assistant Superintendent
