The MA Express!

Greetings Mustangs,

This past week was a difficult one getting the news that a member of our staff had passed away. Our thoughts have been and continue to be with the Wing family during this difficult time.  I want to thank our students, staff and the Monmouth community for coming together and supporting each other.

Recognition:  I want to congratulate the Monmouth/Winthrop Cheerleaders for their outstanding performance at the Class D North/South Regional Cheering Competition that was held at Stearns Jr/Sr High School on Saturday (02/05).  Like many members of our MA community, I took the 3+ hour ride north to Millinocket to cheer on our team and they were AWESOME!  Watching them perform against some pretty tough competition and then hearing the announcement that they were the Regional Champs for Class D North/South was pretty special to say the least.  They will now move on to the State Cheering Championships scheduled to take place at the Augusta Civic Center next Saturday (02/12).  If your schedule permits, I STRONGLY encourage you to show your Mustang Pride and support this small but AMAZING team!

Vex Robotics Competition:  Monmouth had a strong showing at our home tournament on Saturday(02/05), and all MA teams were contenders for awards and the podium. Team 93303F had an extremely successful run during qualification rounds and were the first-place seed going into the elimination bracket.  Team 93303M won the Design Award for the second time this season for excellence in engineering design and communicating their process during judge interviews.  Job well done!

Project Grad Update:  The Project Grad Committee had their second meeting last Tuesday evening (02/01).  At this meeting, they voted for Co-Chairs to lead this group, and I want to thank Danielle Hamann and Dawn Ham for accepting these roles.  I shared the results of the Senior vote which was 100% in favor of having Project Grad at Camp Mechuwana (located in Winthrop).  There will be two communications coming out (one for Seniors and one for parents of Seniors) on Monday, so please check your email.  Danielle and Dawn will be meeting with me sometime in the next week or two and setting the next date/time for the next Project Grad meeting.  Stay tuned!

Mask Wearing:   Masks must be covering both the mouth and nose.  It is extremely important that we are all on the same page with this expectation.  As always, your cooperation with this expectation is greatly appreciated!

Guidance Update:  The field trip for Juniors to Central Maine Community College is scheduled for Wednesday (02/09). The trip will run from 9:00am - 12:30pm and lunch will be provided in the CMCC Cafeteria.

Yearbook Update (from Dr. Ross):  Hello Senior parents and families! Each year the Monmouth Academy yearbook offers parents the chance to create a personal ad, otherwise known as a Personal Display of Affection (PDA), that will show up in the yearbook. You can add however many pictures and messages that will fit to congratulate or recognize your student. You have the option to design the ad yourself or to submit photos and messages to me and we will create an ad for you. All PDAs will be sent to you for approval before publication. Materials and payment are due by February 14

You can order your PDA by emailing me (eross@kidsrsu.org); sending information and money into the school; or going online and searching for Monmouth Academy and choosing to create a personal ad (https://yearbookforever.com). You can design your own PDA or submit photos and messages for the yearbook staff to design it for you.

We offer the following sizes:

Full Page = $150 (up to 24 photos)

Half Page = $80 (up to 12 photos)

Quarter Page = $50 (up to 6 photos)

Eighth Page = $30 (up to 3 photos)

Let Dr. Ross know if you have any questions or would like to order a PDA today.

Attention Senior Parents: Yearbook is looking for photos for our Then and Now pages. We need photos from anytime growing up of the seniors as well as any fun ones you have from high school. Please email them to eross@kidsrsu.org.

We need any photos from this year. Sports events, students hanging out, activities that are done outside of school. Please send them to eross@kidsrsu.org if you want them in the yearbook.
