The MA Express!

Greetings Mustangs!

And just like that, we are into the final week of March, with April knocking on our door!  Grades will close for the 2nd semester mid-grade progress reports this Friday - April 1st.  Teachers will have until the following Wednesday (04/06) to get their grades entered into Infinite Campus; and our Guidance team will verify grades and produce progress reports which (if all goes according to plan) will be mailed out by Friday (04/08).  Students have been and will continue to be encouraged to seek academic support (if needed) to get and/or keep themselves on pace.  Our Seniors have been told that all grades for any Honors recognition at Graduation will close on April 1, 2022. The following will be calculated based on GPA’s up  through April 1, 2022:

  • Summa Cum Laude Recognition: Any senior with a 3.75 or higher cumulative GPA. This is for graduation recognition as well as the MVC Honors Banquet.

  • Valedictorian/Salutatorian

  • Honor Cords: Any Senior with a 3.25 or higher cumulative GPA. This is for graduation recognition only.

I can’t stress enough to all students (especially our Seniors) how important it is to take responsibility for your academics.  Connect with your teachers, Guidance, Mr. Bell, or myself if you need help.  We are here for you and we want you all to be successful.

Special Recognition/Thanks:  I want to recognize and thank the following three students from Monmouth Academy (Noah Brown, Reilly McCabe, and Jacob Umberhind) for representing our school as part of the RSU 2 Future Search team.  This group of approx. 80 people (representing a wide range of stakeholders throughout RSU 2) met on Friday (03/25) from 3:00pm - 8:00pm and again on Saturday (03/26) from 8:00am - 2:30pm.  It was great to have student representation to provide a student perspective as to where the district has been; where it currently is; and where we want to be.  So THANK YOU Noah, Reilly, and Jacob for giving up your time to be part of that process.  Your participation and feedback was greatly appreciated!

National Honor Society: Potential candidates are reminded that they have until this Thursday (03/31) to submit their application materials to Mrs. Arsenault and Mr. Pascarella.  Those students who are selected will be invited to attend our NHS Induction Ceremony which is scheduled to take place on Wednesday (05/18) at 6:30pm.  For further information or assistance, please connect with Mrs. Arsenault or Mr. Pascarella.

Military Visit: The US Navy is scheduled to come in during the lunch blocks on Tuesday (03/29) for any student interested in getting information about the Navy.

New - Dirigo State: The American Legion Boys State and American Legion Auxiliary Girls State have joined together to create DIRIGO STATE. DIRIGO STATE is the first coed, American Legion Family-sponsored program nationwide. DIRIGO STATE encompasses all the same aspects of the individual Boys and Girls State programs but gives the delegate a more realistic approach to real-life application of the political process. We continue in our excellence to teach Maine students the importance of our American way of life. DIRIGO STATE is a unique summertime educational program that does not emphasize classroom lectures and textbook learning. Instead, it focuses on experiential learning in a model state, complete with governing bodies and elected public officials. Students will spend a week participating in the same political and governmental process as citizens and public officials of the State of Maine.  For more information, please connect with Mrs. Knowlton.

Civil Rights Team:   The next Civil Rights Team meeting is scheduled for Monday (03/28) at 2:30 in the Art Room. Our team is part of the Maine Civil Rights Team Project (CRTP) whose mission is to increase the safety of elementary, middle, and high school students by reducing bias-motivated behaviors and harassment in our schools.  ALL students are invited and encouraged to be part of this team!  For more information, please connect with Ms. Darrell and/or Mr. Shain.

Say NO to Bullying!  Quote of the week: “ Never look down on someone unless you’re helping them up.” If you are experiencing bullying directly or if you see it happening to someone else, please report it to a staff member or administrator immediately.  Thank you!

Pool Testing:  Will continue for those students and staff who have registered for it this week on Wednesday (03/30).  Testing will take place on the stage right after block 1 (between 8:40 - 9:00).

Attention Seniors:   I emailed a letter to all Seniors and their parents/guardians on Wednesday (03/16) containing important end of the year information and dates for planning purposes.  Please take the time to review that information and connect with me if you have any questions.  Thanks!

Dates to Note:
