Greetings Mustangs!

I’d like to begin by saying CONGRATULATIONS  and JOB WELL DONE to our Seniors for their Senior Capstone presentations that they did this past Friday (05/13).  My observations, along with feedback I received from students, staff members, and our Superintendent made me so proud of this significant accomplishment!  Now, our Seniors are now down to 8.5 school days remaining; all other students have 22 school days left in the 2021-22 school year!  Let’s keep our focus and finish up on a strong note.  If you find yourself in need of any type of support, please don’t hesitate to connect with a staff member, your school counselor, or an administrator as we are here for YOU!

Congratulations Mr. Mitchell!   In case you haven’t heard, Monmouth’s very own Mr. Seth Mitchell was recognized this past Thursday for earning the County Teacher of the Year Award for Kennebec County!  We are very fortunate to have Mr. Mitchell as part of our Monmouth team!  Congratulations Mr. Mitchell; WE ARE PROUD OF YOU!!!

Prom - 2022:  Will take place this coming Saturday - May 21st at the Vista of Maine located in Greene, ME.  Tickets were on sale from 05/05 - 05/13.  The Prom will run from 6:00pm - 10:00pm with dinner taking place at 6:30pm.  We are looking forward to what should be a very special evening!  If you have any questions pertaining to Prom, please connect with Mrs. Littlefield.  Thanks!

State Science Assessment:  The New Meridian Science Assessment for all Juniors will take place on Wednesday (05/18) between the hours of 7:45am - 11:30am.  Juniors will have lunch from 11:30 - 12:00, followed by a break/class meeting with Guidance and Admin (TBD).  By 12:30, Juniors will resume their regular white day schedule for blocks 6 & 7.

School Budget Meetings:  For planning purposes, the School Budget meeting for the town of Monmouth is scheduled for Monday (05/16) beginning at 6:00pm at Monmouth Academy.  The district-wide Budget Meeting is scheduled for Thursday (05/26) at Monmouth Academy at 6:00pm.  These meetings will also be offered through the following link: https://networkmaine.zoom.us/j/87355660943.

MOBY: Will be taking place this coming week! Students in grade 9 will go from 05/16 - 05/18 (back by 2:30 on the 18th).  Students in grade 10 will go from 05/18 - 05/20 (back by 2:30 on the 20th). Students who opted NOT to go on the trip are expected to be in school.  If they are in grade 9, they will be assigned to specific classrooms for the three days that their class is out of the building.  Some of them have work that they need to complete for their classes (for a variety of reasons) and this would be an appropriate use of time for them to complete that work.  Those who are caught up with their academics will work on a MOBY-related project.

Since the vast majority of those teachers who teach Sophomores are not going on the trip, it makes perfect sense to have those Sophomores who aren't going on the trip to follow their regular schedule.  Again, if they have make-up work to complete in a given class, that would be a good use of their time.  If they are caught up with everything, then they too should be working on a MOBY-related project.

Parent Reminder:  If your student will be needing ANY type of medication during the MOBY trip and you have not given it to our Nurse by now, your last opportunity to do so will be on Sunday evening (05/15) between the hours of 6:00pm - 8:00pm at Monmouth Academy.  Students in grades 9 & 10 are reminded to get their bags/gear to the high school between 7:15 - 7:45 on Monday (05/15) to load into the trailer.  These bags/items will NOT be back until Friday (05/20).  Students should make arrangements for a ride Friday afternoon after 2:20 if they have items that they won’t be able to take onto the regular school bus.

Civil Rights Team:   The next Civil Rights Team meeting is scheduled for Monday (05/16) at 2:30pm in the Art Room. Our team is part of the Maine Civil Rights Team Project (CRTP) whose mission is to increase the safety of elementary, middle, and high school students by reducing bias-motivated behaviors and harassment in our schools.  ALL students are invited and encouraged to be part of this team!  For more information, please connect with Ms. Darrell and/or Mr. Shain.

Say NO to Bullying!  Quote of the week: “You’re AMAZING!  Never forget that.”  If you are experiencing bullying directly or if you see it happening to someone else, please report it to a staff member or administrator immediately.
