The MA Express!

Greetings Mustangs!

Welcome May!  And just like that our Seniors are down to 18.5 school days remaining; all other students have 32 school days left in the 2021-22 school year!  Let’s keep our focus and finish up on a strong note.  If you find yourself in need of any type of support, please don’t hesitate to connect with a staff member, your school counselor, or an administrator as we are here for YOU!

Thank You, Masons!: On behalf of the MA Class of 2022, I would like to thank the Masons for their generous donation of $1500 towards Project Graduation.  This donation is GREATLY appreciated!

Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week:  This week we will be celebrating our AMAZING faculty and staff at Monmouth Academy!  I encourage all students to take an opportunity this week to let your teachers and staff know how much you appreciate them and all that they do to make MA a great place to be!

Campaign Posters:  For the next week or so you will be seeing posters/signs up for the various candidates seeking student government positions at MA.  Please be respectful of these posters/signs.  Tearing them down is not appropriate or OK to do.  Anyone caught vandalizing another student’s work will be dealt with accordingly.  Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Senior Capstone Presentations:  Will be taking place on Friday - 05/13.  Seniors are reminded that this is a graduation requirement.  Any Senior needing assistance with their project should connect with their Senior Capstone teacher before the presentation date.

MOBY Update: Students in grades 9 and 10 have received the paperwork & permission slip for the MOBY trip taking place between 05/16 - 05/18 for grade 9 and 05/18 - 05/20 for grade 10.  Permission forms need to be returned ASAP.  There was an informational evening last Thursday - 04/28 for parents and guardians about this trip.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mr. Schultz at sschultz@kidsrsu.org.  Thanks!

Guidance Update:

Class Meetings:  I will be meeting with students in grades 9 - 11 at 8:50am Monday morning (05/02) in the Gym to review the expectations for the NWEA testing taking place this week (Tue, Wed, & Thur).  Immediately following this meeting, I will be meeting with the Seniors to review the expectations for their last 18.5 school days at MA!

NWEAs: Students in grades 9 - 11 will be taking the NWEAs on 05/03, 05/04, and 05/05.  An informational letter about the NWEAs was sent out to all parents/guardians the week prior to the April break.  If you have any questions, please contact our Guidance Department.

All Seniors are expected to be in school during the NWEAs.  Seniors will meet in the Cafeteria with Mrs. Littlefield and Mrs. Arsenault to work on their Senior Capstone presentations.  Privileges will resume each day once the NWEA testing is completed.

Civil Rights Team:   The next Civil Rights Team meeting is scheduled for Monday (05/02) at 2:30pm in the Art Room. Our team is part of the Maine Civil Rights Team Project (CRTP) whose mission is to increase the safety of elementary, middle, and high school students by reducing bias-motivated behaviors and harassment in our schools.  ALL students are invited and encouraged to be part of this team!  For more information, please connect with Ms. Darrell and/or Mr. Shain.

Say NO to Bullying!  Quote of the week: “One person can make a difference, and everyone should try.” (President John F. Kennedy).  If you are experiencing bullying directly or if you see it happening to someone else, please report it to a staff member or administrator immediately.

Pool Testing:  Is winding down this month.  We will test again on Wednesday (05/04) right after period 1 on the stage.

Yearbook Update:  If you ordered a yearbook, you should have received an email from Dr. Ross last week that shows if you are paid up or what you owe. If you did not receive an email, you have not ordered a yearbook. If you feel there is an error, please reach out to Dr. Ross ASAP.

We have a limited supply left, so if you want to order one bring $60 to Dr. Ross before May 13. These few extra copies are first paid, first given basis.
