Dear HDES Families,

I wanted to reach out and introduce myself. My name is Sara Derosby, and I am the new principal at Hall-Dale Elementary School. I am very excited to join this school community! I was able to spend a day here in June and the energy in the building was wonderful to see and feel.

Professionally, for the past 2 years I have been in the district as the teaching principal at Dresden Elementary School. Dresden is a Tier III school which means we worked closely with a MDOE coach to help us with our school improvements. We were also chosen as a MTSS (multi-tiered systems of support) pilot school, one of the very few in the state! Previously, for 10 years, I worked in Lewiston.  I started as a 6th grade teacher, and then continued my career as a literacy coach. I received my Master’s in Literacy through USM, Literacy Coach training through the Maine Partnership in Comprehensive Literacy (MPCL), and Literacy Intervention training through UMaine. I also had some great experiences teaching graduate level courses for USM and UMaine as well as working with DOE in the revision of the literacy standards. I also went through the Maine Educators Consortium for the classes needed for my Building Administrator Certification.

Here are some things to know about me personally. I live in Litchfield with my husband, our dog, and cat - or “the girls” as we call them. Greta is a 5 year old chocolate lab and Kamie is our cat who has just turned 1. We love to stay active outside whether it be snowmobiling, skiing, hiking, or enjoying the lake.

I am looking forward to meeting you all soon and seeing the students again in the fall.  If you have any questions or would like to connect with me please email me at sderosby@kidsrsu.org

I hope you all enjoy every minute of this beautiful summer we are having!

Sincerely,

Sara Derosby
