CELEBRATING EXCELLENCE: RSU 2 FOOD SERVICE TEAM RECEIVES NATIONAL RECOGNITION
It is with great pride to share exceptional news about our district's food service program. RSU 2 has been awarded the prestigious Small and Rural SFA Lunch Trailblazer Recognition Award by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service in collaboration with Action for Healthy Kids.
This national recognition honors our food service team's outstanding commitment to improving the nutritional quality of school meals. Specifically, our district was recognized for successfully meeting weekly sodium guidelines and implementing meaningful student engagement strategies. The award also acknowledges our team's dedication to incorporating fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole grains into daily menus, as well as their innovative partnerships with local farms to provide healthier, locally sourced ingredients.
As Rob Bisceglie, Executive Officer & President for Action for Healthy Kids, noted: "The HMI Recognition Awards are an opportunity to showcase innovative school nutrition practices that provide children with access to nutritious school meals."
This achievement reflects what we already know to be true: The hard work our nutrition staff does each day touches students' lives - it means they are seen, valued, and make a difference every day!
Healthy school meals are not just about nutrition, they are essential to our educational mission, directly supporting our students' health, growth, development, and academic outcomes. The dedication of our food service team creates a foundation for learning excellence throughout our district.
Please join me in congratulating our exceptional food service staff on this well-deserved recognition. Their daily commitment to providing nutritious, appealing meals helps ensure that every student in RSU 2 has the fuel they need to thrive academically and beyond.

On behalf of the entire Kennebec Intra-District Schools (RSU 2) community, we extend our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to each of you on this School Bus and Van Driver Appreciation Day.
