All RSU 2 schools and the central office are closed today, Thursday, October 26, due to the tragic event in Lewiston last evening and ongoing search for the suspect. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, first responders, emergency personnel, and others impacted.

Dear KIDS Community, It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we share our loss of an incredible teacher. Mr. Dan Crocker, a former Hall-Dale Middle School math teacher, passed away after a courageous battle against cancer. He leaves a void in our community that cannot be filled. Dan was not just a teacher; he was a beacon of knowledge, inspiration, and compassion. He instilled in learners a love for learning, and he empowered each to reach their fullest potential. He believed in the transformative power of education and tirelessly worked towards making a positive impact on the lives of his students. Dan’s classrooms were not just spaces for learning, but safe havens where students felt seen, heard, and valued. His infectious enthusiasm, unwavering patience, and genuine care left an indelible mark on countless lives. He always encouraged learners to dream big and embrace challenges with resilience. As Dan’s family, friends, and community navigate this painful loss, let us remember Mr. Crocker for the joy and knowledge he shared, the impact he made, and the lives he touched.

Due to excessive heat and humidity in our classrooms, RSU 2 schools will be dismissed early today. The overwhelming majority of our classrooms do not have air conditioning, and they did not cool down over night. We began the day with 85 degree temps in two of our elementary schools. No p.m. Pre-K. Good Morning HDMS Parents, Guardians and Families, I am excited to share that Mr. Doug Bourget will serve as an Interim Principal for Hall-Dale Middle School (grades 6-8) during the 2023-2024 school year. Through this trial administrative structure our district’s goal is to provide tailored leadership and targeted support for our grades 6-8 learners and staff. After discussions with staff, learners, and parents, as well as reviewing student data, we have decided to utilize and monitor this model for this school year. We believe this decision will best assist us in helping our learners demonstrate solid academic and social growth over the upcoming school year. Mr. Bourget has served as the Assistant Principal at Hall-Dale Middle and High School for the past six years. Previously, he served as the Principal/Head of School at Maine Connections Academy. Mr. Mark Tinkham will continue to serve as the Hall-Dale High School Principal, and Mr. Chris Ranslow will serve as Dean of Students/Athletic Director for both the middle and high school (grades 6-12).
