The MA Express!

Greetings Mustangs!

Did you remember to set your clocks ahead one hour?

Just a reminder, any student who had a grade below a 2.5 in any class as of 02/28 was notified at that time of their status and were asked to develop/complete a plan of action with their teacher(s) before the next grade check which will take place on/around 03/14.  Students have been STRONGLY encouraged to connect with their teachers if they have any questions, concerns, or just want an academic update.  Students and parents are encouraged to utilize the Infinite Campus portal, and if you have any questions after doing that, please connect with the teacher(s) directly as they can best explain why a grade is what it is.

One Act Play:  Our Drama Team participated in the Class B One Act Play Drama Regionals this past Friday and Saturday at Skowhegan High School and did a fantastic job! In fact, the performance was SO good that the team brought home the first place trophy!  Congratulations to the team and their advisors (Mrs. Littlefield and Mr. Price) for a JOB WELL DONE!  Oh, and by the way, if you weren’t able to catch their performance in Skowhegan, they will be doing a local performance at the Cumston Hall on March 21st at 7:00pm.  The show is about 40 minutes and will be followed up with a 15 - 20 minute questions/answers session. ALL are invited to attend!

FBLA State Conference:  Our FBLA Team (advised by Mrs. Neal) will be heading to Portland today (03/12) to participate in the FBLA State Conference.  This is the first time since 2019 that our school has been able to participate in this event due to Covid; so needless to say the team is VERY excited about competing against at least 8 other schools and we wish them well!

Academic Decathlon:  The Academic Decathlon that MA will be hosting will be taking place on Saturday (03/18) from 8:00 - 5:00.  We want to wish this team the very best!

Winter Carnival 2023:  Winter Carnival is set for the week of 03/20 - 03/24.  The Winter Carnival Dance & Social will take place on Thursday (03/23) from 7:00pm - 10:00pm.  Guest permission forms can be picked up at the Main Office and must be returned by the close of school on Monday (03/20).  If you have any questions about Winter Carnival - 2023, please see your grade level student representatives or you can see Mr. Pascarella or Ms. Menice (MASG Advisors).  Best of luck to all classes; be safe; and have fun!

Remote Day:  We are expecting another snow storm coming in Monday night through Wednesday morning.  IF this storm stays on track and IF school has to be canceled on Tuesday (03/14), we will be running a remote day.  Students will be expected to login to each class at their normal scheduled times (with the exception of study halls, advisory, and lunch).  If a student does not have access to their laptop or the internet at home, they should make arrangements with their teachers on Monday (03/13) to get hard-copy materials of work that they can complete in the event that we have to go remote.  If a student is needing/wanting a lunch for Tuesday, the school needs to be notified so that we can prepare a bagged lunch that will go home with students on Monday afternoon.  Thanks!

Recognition Assembly:  Our next Recognition Assembly will take place Thursday (03/16) during the advisory/lunch time (10:40 - 11:00 grades 12 and 10; 11:00 - 11:20 grades 11 and 9).

Early Release & Workshop Day:  For planning purposes, we have an early release scheduled for Thursday (03/16) with students getting dismissed at 11:20; and a workshop day for staff on Friday (03/17 -  no school for students).

Early Release Student Schedule (03/16):

07:45 - 08:25 =  (Block 1)

08:30 - 09:10 =  (Block 2)

09:15 - 09:55 =  (Block 3)

10:00 - 10:40 =  (Block 5)

10:40 - 11:00 =  (Recognition Assembly grades 12 & 10; lunch grades 11 & 9)

11:00 - 11:20 =  (Recognition Assembly grades 11 & 9; lunch grades 12 & 10)

11:20 =  (Dismissal)

NHS Update:  Any Sophomore or Junior who is academically eligible to receive an application to apply for our National Honor Society received this information and had a group meeting on Friday (03/10).  All applications must be returned no later than 03/27.  If you have any questions, please see our NHS Advisor (Mrs. Arsenault).
