The MA Express!

Greetings Mustangs!

The Memorial Day Weekend is here, and weather-wise, it looks like it’s going to be amazing!  As we get together with family and friends, we also pause to remember all those who gave their lives defending our freedoms and way of life.  A special thank you to our veterans - past and present - and to all those who are currently serving in any of our Armed Forces.  You are so greatly appreciated!

Our Seniors only have 3 school days remaining!  The last academic day for Seniors is Thursday (06/01).  Seniors should be ready to turn in their laptops, chargers, charging blocks, and carrying cases on 06/01 and 06/02.  Seniors are asked to refer to the Senior informational letter that went out about a month or so ago that outlines everything they need to know about graduation week activities and expectations.  Seniors also received a check-out form from Mrs. McDonald that they are responsible for completing.  Any Senior who didn’t get one, please see Mrs. McDonald in the Main Office ASAP. Any questions, please ask!

All other students have 11 school days remaining (and up to 14 school days if they need additional time to complete a class; make-up a final(s); or to go for a “4” in any class).  June 13th is the last regular academic day for students in grades 9 - 11.  As I shared in a previous communication, any student who has not completed/passed a class will have until 06/16 to do so.  We are in the process of planning for a possible summer school option.  More information about that will be coming your way the week of 06/05.  Stay tuned!

Join the Junior Firefighters Program!  The Monmouth Fire Department is looking for new junior members!  Please consider joining this program as it is a great way to learn important life skills; make new friends; and to serve your community.  It also looks good on your resume!  Meetings take place every Thursday evening from 6:30pm - 8:30pm.  For more information, please contact the Monmouth Fire Departments.

Civil Rights Team:  Our school is part of the Maine Civil Rights Team Project (CRTP) whose mission is to increase the safety of elementary, middle, and high school students by reducing bias-motivated behaviors and harassment in our schools.  ALL students are invited and encouraged to be part of this team!  For more information, please connect with Ms. Darrell and/or Mr. Shain.

Say NO to Bullying!  Bullying is NEVER OK, and has NO place at MA.  If you or someone you know is experiencing any type of bullying or harassment (directly or indirectly), please let a teacher, staff member, or administrator know immediately.  We take great pride in maintaining a school environment in which ALL students and staff can feel safe and secure.  As it’s been said before, “If you ignore it, you approve it.”  Please join me in making our school a bully-free zone.  Thank you!

Civil Rights Team Dance & Social:  On Friday (06/02), the Civil Rights Team is hosting an ‘80’s themed dance & social.  If you dress-up in the ‘80’s fashion, the admission will be $3.  If not, the general admission is $4.  Doors open at 7:00pm and the dance will run until 10:00pm.  If you would like to bring a guest, that guest must be at least in high school but no older than 20 years of age AND you must have a guest permission form completed/turned in no later than Thursday (06/01).  Any questions, please see Ms. Darrell or Mr. Shain.

Eagle Scout Project:  A member of the Class of 2026 (Chris Kirby) is working on his Eagle Scout project.  At his request, I sent an email to all students and staff earlier today (05/27) about this project.  If you would like more information, please feel free to reach out to Chris.  He thanks everyone in advance for your support!
