The MA Express!

Greetings Mustangs!

This is the final edition of The MA Express! for the 2022-2023 school year!  This school year flew by so fast, but I hope you found it to be both challenging and rewarding.  Mrs. Knowlton has been working very hard on getting the 2023-2024 student and staff schedules completed.  Her goal is to meet with students this coming week to review schedules.  Report cards for this current semester will be produced and mailed out before the end of this month, and we will include a copy of your schedule with your report card that is mailed home in the event you are not able to meet with her this week.

Graduation will take place on Sunday (06/11) at 2:00pm.  Tickets ARE required for this event and it will also be live-streamed.  Please click on the following link for access to that live-streaming site: https://www.youtube.com/@rsu2monmouthmedia177/streams.  The Awards Night on 06/07 and Class Day on 06/09 went very well.  If you were unable to attend either event, you can go to the same live-streaming link that will be used for Graduation to check both out.  A special thank you to Mr. Seth Mitchell and his tech team for providing this live-streaming service!

The last regular school day for students in grades 9 - 11 will be on Tuesday (06/13).  Any student who still owes work to pass a class; re-do a final exam(s); or just wants to boost their grade(s) may do so between 06/14 - 06/16.  The 16th will be an early release with students getting dismissed at 11:20.

Laptops were collected throughout the day on Friday (06/09).  Any student who still needs their device to complete work for this coming week or over the summer was asked to complete the Laptop Use Extension Form.  If you are in need of your laptop and have not completed that form, please do so ASAP and/or connect with Mr. Kyle Brown for assistance.  Thank you!

Daily Schedule:

Monday (06/12) = White Day

Tuesday (06/13) = Maroon Day

Wednesday (06/14) = Individual Academic Support Day (one lunch from 11:00 - 11:25)

Join the Junior Firefighters Program!  The Monmouth Fire Department is looking for new junior members!  Please consider joining this program as it is a great way to learn important life skills; make new friends; and to serve your community.  It also looks good on your resume!  Meetings take place every Thursday evening from 6:30pm - 8:30pm.  For more information, please contact the Monmouth Fire Departments.

For Planning Purposes:

Due to play-off games on Tuesday (06/13), the Freshmen Orientation Night will be rescheduled for a later date.  We will send out information sometime later this summer.

Due to a play-off game on Wednesday (06/14), each individual team will have their own recognition event at a date/time that works best for the team and their coach or coaches.  Coaches will reach out to their student athletes with that information.

Summer School Update:  As of this newsletter, I have two staff members interested in being part of our summer school program.  Dr. Ross will be providing support for math classes; and Mr. Witherell will be facilitating online credit recovery courses through Educere for those students needing to recover credit in English, Science, or Social Studies.  We will need to know by this coming Thursday (06/15) if a student is interested in doing an online recovery course.  Students should plan on working on their online course or courses both at home as well as at school.  The school dates/times will be as follows:  06/20, 06/22, 06/27, 06/29, 07/11, 07/13, 07/18, and 07/20 (each day from 8:00am - 12:00pm) at Monmouth Academy (rooms TBD).  Once a student completes the online course, they will be done with summer school as it’s not about the “seat time.”  If a student is done by 06/30, they don’t need to come to summer school for those July dates. There is NO charge to participate, however students will need to provide their own transportation to/from summer school.

That’s it for this week’s newsletter.  On behalf of the faculty and staff at MA, I want to wish you all a safe and enjoyable summer vacation!  We look forward to seeing you back for the new school year!

Respectfully,

Mr. Ted Finn, Principal
