The MA Express!

Greetings Mustangs!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!  I hope you all had a wonderful holiday break with family and friends.  As we return to school on Tuesday (01/03), we find ourselves with just 12.5 school days remaining until the end of the first semester!  For planning purposes, Tuesday (01/03) will be a white day.  Any student who had a grade below a 2.5 back on 12/18 has up through Friday (01/06) to get their grade(s) up to at least a 2.5.  We will do an academic check on Monday (01/09) for those students who were notified back on 12/18 that they were below a 2.5 in any class.  Note:  Passing by the end of the semester is a 3.0, so students should be making that their top priority as we return to school.

Any Junior or Senior who had a grade(s) below a 2.5 as of 12/18 are reminded that their privileges have been revoked until they can get their grade(s) back up to at least a 2.5.  Students and parents should be able to get updated information from the student/parent portal of IC.  Students who have classes that utilize google classroom may also keep track of academic progress on that platform.  I would also strongly suggest that students connect with their teachers directly with any academic questions/concerns.

Guidance Update:  Seniors - please remember to check out the scholarship document for new and updated scholarships. This can be found here.  Seniors are also reminded to please submit your college acceptances to guidance for recognition! The bulletin board is up, notifications are being posted to Facebook, and your name could be added to the lobby display of announcements!

Second-semester schedules are out and ready. Feel free to email Mrs. Knowlton if you have questions, want to meet about your schedule, or want to make changes!

Say NO to Bullying!  Bullying is NEVER OK, and has NO place at MA.  If you or someone you know is experiencing any type of bullying or harassment (directly or indirectly), please let a teacher, staff member, or administrator know immediately.  We take great pride in maintaining a school environment in which ALL students and staff can feel safe and secure.  As it’s been said before, “If you ignore it, you approve it.”  Please join me in making our school a bully-free zone.  Thank you!

Anti-Bullying Quote of the Week:  “Knowing what’s right doesn’t mean much unless you do what’s right.” -Theodore Roosevelt

That concludes this week’s edition of The MA Express! On behalf of the faculty and staff at MA, I want to wish you all a very happy and healthy New Year.  Welcome back!

Respectfully,

Mr. Ted Finn, Principal
