At our May Positive Recognition Assembly, on Tuesday, May 15th, six students were recognized as Student of the Month Nominees: Kylie Temple, Sam DeRaps, Trinity Gajilan, Kylee Alexander, Olivia Winokurzew, and Leanne Bryant.  All students nominated are very deserving of being recognized.  Thank you all for your contributions to our community.  Nomination statements can be found below.

Sam DeRaps was selected as the May Student of the Month.  Congratulations Sam!

Student of the Month Nominations:

  1. This student has continued to push herself to be ready for the next step in her academic career. She has taken on leadership responsibilities with the school musical, leading vocal rehearsals for which she is always well-prepared. Kylie Temple.

  2. This student is a passionate learner and consistently involved citizen of our school. They always pushes themself to understand concepts completely, self-monitor his learning, volunteer to help students and teachers when he can, and puts in his best work each time. Further, this student has made impactful efforts to change school culture and safety in our school, which has been recognized in his previous student of the months this year. This student is being nominated because of his thoughtfulness and awareness of those around him and how he strives to make a positive impact on them. In October, this student started his stealthy scheming when doing an article called Teachers' Pets in the Bobcat Times. This article, I am now aware, was to gather information about Artie. They then used the information, designed business cards for Artie to promote being a therapy dog, and delivered these business cards to me on the first day back from April break. It made my day. The care and planning they took to pull this off, although not surprising, is thoughtful and positively impactful. It is for this kind act, although this is certainly not the first like this, that I nominate Sam DeRaps for student of the month.

  3. This student exemplifies dogged dedication and determination to succeed. She works very hard to stay at pace even when she was away for nearly two weeks dealing with a loss in her family she checked in, got her work, and kept moving forward, returning to school still on pace! She is a role model to others and speaks with wisdom beyond her years about social issues that impact her and her peers in today’s complex society with true understanding and compassion for others in all walks of life. She makes time to be kind to others and helps her peers with academics and other concerns they are dealing with. Though she may struggle with some academics, as all students do, she doesn’t believe in using excuses to not do your best and find ways to succeed. She is well on her way when it comes to planning for her future and makes good connections to what she is doing at this moment to what she wants to and will be doing in her next steps of life. I sometimes listen in awe to the mature advise she gives to her peers as they often seek it out. She is well respected and justly so. I whole-heartedly recommend Trinity Gajilan for student of the month.

  4. When JMG was asked to present to the school board, these students volunteered, created a presentation about Career Development Conference, practiced, presented to the school board, and did an excellent job. Kylee Alexander, Olivia Winokurzew, and Leanne Bryant.
