The RSU2 Board of Directors is pleased to announce Tonya Arnold as our new superintendent, effective August 1st. Tonya recently finished a superintendent position with the Vinalhaven School District. Tonya brings to RSU2 over 20 years of teaching, administrative and superintendent knowledge, as well as experience in the corporate world and as a business owner. At the Maine Academy of Natural Sciences, Tonya led a proficiency and project-based school, and brings that leadership to support RSU2’s current staff of dedicated teachers and curriculum leaders. Tonya resides in Richmond with her husband, Steve. They have two adult children with families of their own. Over the next several weeks, Tonya will meet with Acting Superintendent Paine, RSU2 staff, students and families to get to know us all and learn more about what makes RSU2 great. Please join us in welcoming Tonya to our community. Sincerely, Jonathan Hamann Chair, RSU2 Board of Directors

Due to the strong possibility of severe thunderstorms (including possible hail and heavy wind) for tomorrow (Saturday, June 6th) we are postponing our graduation ceremony.  The ceremony will now take place at 4pm on Sunday.  All times will be the same as they were originally planned.

Changes to Planned Graduation Parade: As of May 31st, we are all grateful to still be preparing for a graduation ceremony this coming weekend (admission by invite only), but we have had to make some changes to the planned parade after. On Friday, May 29th, the Maine DOE (with input from the Departments of Public Safety and Health and Human Services) issued new guidance to schools strongly advising schools against holding graduation parades due to the fear that crowds will gather. In order to follow these guidelines, we are canceling our proposed graduation parade, and instead holding a “reverse parade” for our graduates. After graduation, our graduates will line up on Main Street. Passersby may cheer, honk, and celebrate our graduates (while driving with caution). Richmond PD will assist in making this an orderly and safe event. Please do not arrive or approach on foot- the purpose of changing the event is to avoid crowds gathering and to maintain social distancing, but also to still give you a chance to cheer for our graduates. Thank you for your cooperation. Sincerely, Karl Matulis Principal, Richmond Middle and High School

A few parents have reached out about more structure for their students. Here is an example of a schedule you could use at home. It may be a bit over-ambitious, so feel free to split it up into multiple days or modify however you need. https://tinyurl.com/v22ruu4
