Dear Dresden Community, While there is some sense of relief in learning the search is over, we are all deeply saddened by the tragic events of the shootings in Lewiston and the loss of so many innocent lives. Many of us have been directly impacted by this tragedy in one way or another, and my sincerest condolences go out to the families, friends and colleagues of those that have lost a loved one. The safety and wellbeing of our communities remains a top priority. Our district leaders have developed safety protocols and procedures in place for return to school on Monday, which may include a police presence. With the search only recently coming to an end, we must turn our focus to healing. To allow our families and staff an opportunity to prioritize well-being, we will postpone the Board’s initial community gathering that was scheduled for Monday evening, 30 October 2023 at Dresden Elementary School. I have asked team members to work with Dresden community leaders to explore potential dates to reschedule our gathering. I hope to have some options for Board review at our upcoming meeting, on Thursday, November 2, 2023. This tragedy is a reminder that life is both precious and fragile with each day being a gift. Good Evening Evening, All RSU 2 schools will be closed tomorrow, Friday, October 27, 2023. On Monday, October 30, RSU 2 will have a 2-hour delay to prepare for the return of our students. We will be sending more detailed information to you soon. Please take care of one another.

All RSU 2 schools and the central office are closed today, Thursday, October 26, due to the tragic event in Lewiston last evening and ongoing search for the suspect. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, first responders, emergency personnel, and others impacted.

Due to excessive heat and humidity in our classrooms, RSU 2 schools will be dismissed early today. The overwhelming majority of our classrooms do not have air conditioning, and they did not cool down over night. We began the day with 85 degree temps in two of our elementary schools. No p.m. Pre-K. Middle school athletics for today have been cancelled. If you have questions, please call your school's main office.
