The RSU 2 Board of Directors is thrilled to announce that Rick Amero will serve as Interim Superintendent of the RSU 2 School District for the 2022-23 school year. Mr. Amero was unanimously approved by the Board in an emergency meeting held 15 September 2022 and will work with Superintendent Gilbert in supporting a positive and successful transition. While he has served as the Director/Superintendent of the Waldo County Technical Center for the past year, Mr. Amero served our district as teacher, coach, athletic director, and principal for over 30 years. He is a trusted and compassionate leader and a champion of students, committed to building collaborative community relationships and life-changing opportunities for all learners. It is in these roots, where his strengths lie. Please join us in welcoming Rick Amero back home. In addition, I would like to extend my appreciation to the staff and parents of our communities who participated in this hiring process, offering guidance and support as we continue on our path forward. Thank you. With Respect, Donna Seppy Chair, RSU 2 Board of Directors

There will be no Bus 25 in Dresden this week due to a temporary driver shortage. We are asking parents of Bus 25 riders to make alternative arrangements for transportation. Middle and high school riders on Bus 25 can ride a bus to Hall-Dale if they are at DES by 7:00AM. We apologize for this inconvenience and hope to return to normal Monday September 19th.

This morning at approximately 10:50AM, we were notified of a serious incident occurring in Richmond. There were no direct threats to the schools but out of an abundance of caution, the Richmond Schools were instructed to Shelter in Place. This allows movement within the school but restricts access to the building. Since then we have been informed by the Richmond Police that the situation is contained and we have returned to normal activities. Thank you to the Richmond staff for being prepared and keeping our students safe.

With the opening of school next week this message is to notify parents and students of the recommendations for addressing COVID 19. If a student or staff member tests positive for COVID 19 they must isolate for five days from the onset of symptoms. It is recommended that people who test positive mask for 10 days after the onset of symptoms. If your child tests positive an RSU #2 nurse or building administrator will contact you to review the timeline and provide support. Please continue to support our healthy schools by focusing on healthy habits and keeping your child home anytime they are feeling sick. I wish all of you a great start to the 2022-23 school year.
